Lessons in Resilience from Endurance, Identity and Change

I speak about resilience, motivation and endurance from lived experience, not from a stage of certainty, but from years of navigating pressure, setbacks, mental health challenges and identity shifts. As a resilience speaker and motivational keynote speaker, my work is rooted in the reality of what it takes to keep going when things are hard, unclear, or don’t go as planned.

My talks are shaped by ultra-endurance running, neurodivergent identity, and my training and work as a counsellor. They explore what resilience actually looks like when motivation fades, confidence wobbles, or the path forward isn’t clear. Rather than pushing people to “try harder,” I focus on sustainable motivation, emotional awareness and learning how to stay connected to yourself through challenge.

I create spaces where audiences feel inspired, understood and capable, not because they’ve been hyped up, but because they’ve been given language, perspective and permission to reflect honestly on their own capacity for resilience.

What Makes My Talks Different

My approach to resilience is grounded in experience. I’ve lived through intensity, burnout, self-doubt, injury, disappointment and moments where identity had to be rebuilt from the ground up. Ultra-running taught me what endurance really is - not just physical toughness, but the ability to keep showing up when things are uncomfortable, uncertain, or slow.

Alongside this, my counselling training gives me a deep understanding of the psychology behind resilience. I understand how nervous systems respond to stress, why motivation fluctuates, and how pressure, shame and fear can quietly undermine performance and wellbeing.

As a neurodivergent woman, I also bring a perspective shaped by complexity. Motivation doesn’t always follow a straight line. Capacity changes. Energy fluctuates. My talks reflect this reality and help people understand resilience not as a personality trait you either have or don’t have, but as something that is built, supported and practised over time.

What sets my talks apart is that they don’t stop at motivation. They move into self-understanding, emotional awareness and sustainable wellbeing, the foundations that make motivation possible in the long term.

Topics I Speak On

Resilience & Overcoming Adversity

I speak about resilience through the lens of endurance and adversity. Drawing on experiences from ultra-running and mental illness, I explore how people navigate failure, injury and unexpected setbacks. These talks look at how identity is often challenged during difficult periods, and how resilience is built not through bravado, but through adaptability, reflection and self-trust.

Resilience, in this context, is not about being unbreakable; it’s about learning how to respond when things break.

Sustainable Motivation

Motivation is often framed as something we should always have. In reality, it ebbs and flows. I speak about understanding the deeper “why” behind goals, and how people can move from pressure-driven motivation to something more supportive and sustainable.

This includes exploring motivation cycles, navigating the highs and lows of long-term ambition, and learning how to stay engaged without relying on self-criticism or fear. These sessions naturally align with organisations seeking a motivational speaker on resilience who offers more than surface-level encouragement.

Mental Health & Emotional Strength

A core theme in my work is the relationship between mental health and resilience. I speak openly about burnout, overwhelm and the cost of constantly pushing without recovery. These talks explore emotional resilience, self-compassion and nervous system awareness, helping audiences understand how emotional health directly impacts motivation, performance and decision-making.

Rather than separating mental health from resilience, I show how deeply intertwined they are.

Mindset for Athletes, Students & Professionals

I also speak about mindset in performance-driven environments. This includes performance pressure, identity beyond achievement, staying grounded during periods of high expectation, and redefining success in a way that supports well-being.

These talks resonate strongly with athletes, students and professionals who are ambitious, capable, and quietly exhausted.

At universities, my talks focus on burnout, motivation, neurodiversity and navigating transitions during demanding academic periods.

I also regularly speak at wellbeing and mental health events where depth, nuance and authenticity are valued.

What Audiences Take Away

Audiences leave my talks with a deeper understanding of what resilience actually is and how it’s built over time. They gain tools for navigating stress, burnout and challenge, and a shift away from pressure-driven motivation towards something more sustainable.

People often leave with increased emotional awareness and self-compassion, a new perspective on ambition and identity, and permission to rethink what success looks like for them. Rather than a temporary boost, my talks offer insight that supports long-term reflection and growth.

Why I Speak About Resilience

I speak about resilience because I’ve learned that it’s built in the quiet, unseen moments, not just at finish lines or during big achievements. My own journey through extreme endurance challenges, mental health struggles, neurodivergence and periods of deep self-doubt has shaped a more honest understanding of what resilience really means.

I believe resilience isn’t about never struggling. It’s about learning how to stay connected to yourself when things are hard, how to recover as much as you push, and how to move forward without losing yourself along the way.

My goal is to help people recognise their own capacity for resilience, even and especially when they don’t feel strong.
