HYROX Training Built on Strength, Endurance and Resilience

HYROX sits right at the intersection of strength, endurance and mental resilience, and that’s exactly why it draws so many people in. It’s structured, challenging and deeply satisfying. However, it can also feel overwhelming to train for, especially when the dominant online message is to just do more, push harder, and live in a constant state of fatigue.

I tailor plans towards HYROX because I don’t believe you need to destroy yourself to be capable. You don’t need to train at maximum intensity all the time to perform well. What you need is structure, clarity, and a training approach that builds real capacity, physically and mentally, while still fitting into real life.

I help people train in a way that feels purposeful rather than punishing. Whether you’re preparing for your first HYROX, stepping up to a new category, or looking to feel more confident and composed on race day, my role is to help you train with intention and trust in your body.

Why HYROX Training Needs a Smarter Approach

HYROX places very specific demands on the body. You’re repeatedly asking yourself to run under fatigue, lift and carry heavy loads while breathless, and recover quickly enough to keep moving forward. That combination exposes gaps in strength, aerobic capacity, pacing and nervous system regulation very quickly.

What I often see is people training hard but not necessarily training well. Endless high-intensity sessions, random workouts pulled from social media, or strength work that never actually progresses. Over time, this leads to stagnation, exhaustion, or a loss of confidence, especially for people who are already prone to all-or-nothing thinking.

HYROX rewards capacity, not chaos. The athletes who perform well aren’t the ones smashing themselves every session, but the ones who have built strong foundations and can stay regulated under pressure.

Rethinking How We Train for HYROX

HYROX training shouldn’t mean living in the red zone. Constant intensity doesn’t equal progress, and suffering isn’t a prerequisite for performance.

Strong HYROX performance is built through a balance of aerobic fitness, genuine strength, movement efficiency and pacing. When your aerobic base is solid, you recover better between stations. When your strength is well developed, movements feel controlled rather than frantic. And when your nervous system is supported rather than constantly overwhelmed, you make better decisions under fatigue.

Training should feel demanding at times, but it should also feel sustainable, intentional and confidence-building. That’s the lens I coach through.

My Approach to HYROX Coaching

My approach combines principles of strength and endurance with emotional awareness and personal experience. I don’t just programme workouts, I coach people through the realities of training.

Your plan is built around you: your HYROX category, your training history, your current strengths and limitations, and the realities of your work, life and energy. Sessions are structured with a clear purpose, whether that’s building aerobic capacity, developing strength that actually transfers to race movements, or learning how to handle compromised running without panic.

Strength work focuses on the fundamentals that matter in HYROX- squatting, lunging, hinging, pushing, pulling and carrying - built progressively so you feel stable and capable under load. Cardio is programmed intelligently, with a mix of aerobic base work and higher-intensity efforts, rather than constant exhaustion. The aim is to help you feel less breathless, not more.

Because I’m neurodivergent myself, I coach with a strong awareness of sensory overload, perfectionism, fluctuating motivation and the pressure that competitive environments can bring. Plans are flexible, adaptable and shame-free. If something isn’t working, we adjust, we don’t force it.

My counselling background also shapes how I support athletes mentally. HYROX is demanding not just physically, but emotionally. We work on pacing, confidence, managing anxiety, staying regulated under fatigue, and navigating comparison, all of which have a real impact on performance.

Coaching Options

I offer HYROX coaching at various levels of support, ranging from foundational plans for first-time competitors to more personalised performance coaching for those with specific race goals. Training is delivered online and adapted regularly based on your physical and mental responses.

Optional add-ons include race strategy support, technique feedback and simulation sessions where appropriate.

My Background & Experience

I’ve worked in the fitness industry since 2017, and my coaching is grounded in both professional training and lived athletic experience. Over the years, I’ve qualified as a Level 2 and Level 3 Personal Trainer, delivered group exercise and cycling classes, and instructed across multiple Les Mills programmes including Body Balance, Body Pump, GRIT, Body Combat and Body Attack. I’ve also completed Leadership in Running Fitness, which supports the integration of endurance and strength work.

Alongside this, my own journey as an endurance athlete has shaped how I approach events like HYROX, particularly emphasising the importance of strong foundations, aerobic capacity, efficient fueling, and emotional resilience when training becomes challenging.

Who HYROX Coaching Is For

This coaching is designed for individuals who want to train for HYROX with greater clarity and less chaos. It suits first-timers who feel overwhelmed by the preparation process, as well as those who have competed before but want to feel more composed, stronger, and better paced.

It’s also a good fit if you come from a running background and find the strength elements challenging, or if you're from a gym background and struggle with running. Many of the people I work with are neurodivergent, prone to overdoing things, or looking for an approach that supports consistency rather than extremes.

You don’t need to be elite. You don’t need to train like everyone else. You just need a plan that makes sense for you.

I understand what it’s like to train hard, to doubt yourself, to feel overwhelmed, and to rebuild confidence through smarter structure.

I coach with care. I value sustainability over intensity, capacity over punishment, and trust over fear. My aim isn’t just to get you to the start line, it’s to help you feel prepared, grounded and capable when you get there.
